- Convenient and ready consultations following initial GP referral - Clear explanation of issues, treatment and expectations - Understanding of my anxiety - Surgery dates promptly followed consultations - Excellent surgery team provided - Ensured he saw me on the ward following surgery each time to advise how it went which was very reassuring. - Both surgeries went really well; no issues following surgery and I am now pain free in both my hips within a space of 4 months. - Mr Longstaff provided excellent care and treatment and I would not hesitate in recommending him to others.

Mr longstaff is a kind considerate doctor who explains everything in detail and listens to what you have to say. He’s very approachable and doesn’t talk down to you. I had a full hip replacement by him at the Spire hospital in Washington and to be honest I couldn’t fault him on anything. My recovery has been easily managed and I’m so happy with my new hip.

I met with Mr Longstaff on 4 occasions..pre-op, post-op (before and on return from theatre)and at follow up out patient appointment. On each occasion I found him reassuring and approachable. Most of all, he listened to what I had to say and responded in a way that was both easily understandable to the layman(with explanation underpinned with test results, as appropriate)and all information was given in a relaxed but professional manner. He instilled confidence. I cannot think of any improvements. I would happily be under his care again, if necessary, and fully recommend Mr Longstaff as consultant of choice for knee replacement surgery.

Due to the Covid-19 "Lockdown" and waiting over 2 years for a Right Hip Replacement, that an x-ray had shown "Severe Osteoarthritis", I gave up on the NHS. I was in severe pain that even Codeine could not alleviate. One Surgeon exclaimed "You've been like this for 2 years?!" Then he added "I can do you in 6 months" - UNCONSCIONABLE !! As a "Foreign" doctor, he obviously prioritized taking Private Patients - to make more money. That was the final straw for me. I decided that I must go PRIVATE. I needed a Surgeon who could understand my URGENT NEED. After hearing positive reports of Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital, I went Online to research. I had 14 Orthopaedic Surgeons to choose from. I scored all of them on the Hawkins Scale of Consciousness, a brilliant technique to ascertain the INTEGRITY (i.e. Level of Evolution) of a person (or country, etc.). Of all 14 Orthopaedic Surgeons, Lee Longstaff scored the HIGHEST. There were other deciding factors, but this was the most important one. He also had a shine or brightness in his photograph. Graduating with Honours from Cambridge was a plus. I also calculated that he must be around 50 years old - old enough to be EXPERIENCED but not so old as to be in decline. After making the decision to make an Appointment with Mr. Lee Longstaff, everything went like a charm. I got an appointment in 1 week (rather than waiting 4-1/2 months to see an NHS Doctor). We got along magnificently. The very next day I received a phone call from his Secretary informing me of a surgery date in just 5 weeks. From initial phone call to returning home after the Surgery totalled 6 weeks + 1 day - a miracle in Britain. I sobbed as the 3 Doctors prepared me for my surgery. I said "I can't believe it's finally going to happen. You're my hero." I could not have been more pleased with my entire experience.
